The challenge
Before Summit Home Inspections came to Local Scope SEO, they were paying anywhere from $45 to $75 per lead, about $55 on average. At that cost, growth was limited. Every new inspection was too expensive to win, so the company couldn't justify putting more money into marketing.
Their previous agency had promised to bring those costs down but never did. Too much of the budget went to Local Services Ads and to campaigns running in areas that weren't producing booked inspections.
The strategy
- We started by auditing where Summit's money was going and what each part of the spend was producing. We broke performance down ZIP code by ZIP code to find the areas that actually turned into booked inspections, then moved the budget into those areas and out of the ones that only cost money.
- We also targeted the competitors Summit kept running into in their market, so Summit appeared in front of customers who were already comparing inspectors. Finally, we rebalanced the split between LSA and search campaigns and applied local PPC best practices across the whole account so the spend stayed efficient.
The results
For the first three months, we kept Summit's budget exactly where it had been. In that time, the average cost per lead fell 44%, from about $55 to $31.
By month six, the average cost per lead was around $21, which is 62% less than when we started. Once the account was running that efficiently, we scaled the campaigns. Summit now gets far more leads on only slightly more than their original ad budget, and each lead costs less than 40 cents for every dollar it used to cost.
More than a year and a half into the partnership, Summit is still growing with Local Scope SEO.
